Male testosterone therapy is now available in Canada, according to a new report by Health Canada.
The company, MTC, said the drug will be available to Canadian patients in a “limited capacity.”
The company is also launching an international distribution network in Asia.
The product is currently being tested in New Zealand and Australia, according a statement on its website.
The drug was developed by Canadian researchers and is the first to be approved in the U.S. The U.K. has been one of the country’s most aggressive proponents of testosterone treatment, although it hasn’t yet approved it.
A study published last month in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior found that nearly half of men with erectile dysfunction did not respond to testosterone therapy.
The study also found that men who did respond to treatment showed a significantly lower risk of developing prostate cancer than men who didn’t.
